No. We will supply all necessary training including your TSD’s (Training, Support and Development standards) and ongoing training throughout your fostering career with us.

Having pets does not prevent you from fostering, in fact, they can be an asset to a foster family. However, every animal is different and your pets will be assessed as part of the process of becoming a foster carer, taking into account factors such as their temperament and behaviour.

No. Every agency is different and our policy is you will not be approved to foster children under 5.

During your application process, conversations will take place around what type of child would fit best in your home. For example, if you already have 1 younger child, it may be a good idea to have another younger child they could play with. We also complete a matching document to heighten the likelihood of a successful placement. 

Foster carers are treated as self-employed for tax purposes. There is a generous tax scheme foster carers can use called Qualifying Care Relief. The scheme calculates a tax threshold unique to the fostering household which, when compared with their total fostering payments for the same tax year, determines if a foster carer has to pay any tax from their fostering.  The vast majority of foster carers do not pay tax from their fostering. 

As long as you can now demonstrate that you can provide a stable home for these children and can manage the fostering payments made to you, this won’t be an issue.
