SUPPORT

24 hour/ 7 days a week support

We provide continual support for all carers and children. Having fostered ourselves, we understand that you may require support from us at any given time.

This is why we pride ourselves on giving carers that exact service. This support can be in many different forms including:

Phone call support

Face to face in person support if required (again at any time)

Support groups

Support work for children -this can be taking them out for a chat to taking them for an activity.

We also provide all carers with a subscription to Foster Talk, which offers support and will allow you to seek advice on many different matters including taxes to legal advice.

Training and Development

This is an area we believe to be very important within fostering. The children you care for can come from a troublesome or difficult upbringing and learning and understanding this can be key to helping support these children. We provide many face to face sessions each year as well as online training through the Training Hub.

Monthly supervision with your supervising social worker

You will receive a supervising social worker who will be your point of call and will come to see you each month. County Fostering social workers are fully qualified and trained professionals who will help you become the best foster carers you can be. They are there to support, advise and clarify anything you may have questions or worries about.

Within these sessions you will discuss any issues, education, health, and family time arrangements.

Therapy

Within our agency, we have access to a therapist which would result in yourselves becoming a therapeutic carer. This is optional for you to engage with but can have its benefits. Being able to recognise your own emotions and feelings can help prepare you mentally to provide the best support for the children.

Monthly Newsletters

We provide monthly newsletters for the children and the adults. These contain helpful updates and pieces of information about the next training and support groups. They also have upcoming events and celebrations to ensure you don’t miss a thing!

Respite

Many people have differing opinions on respite so we have a system to fit all. You can receive 2 weeks paid respite for the children to go to another foster carers home whilst you have a well deserved break each year.

However, if you do not want to have this service, we will pay you the additional money we were going to pay to help support your own family giving the respite.
